First Day of School

Today was the first day of school for Kylie and Kasey. Everybody woke up on time ready to go. Oh, if only that enthusiasm could last the whole year long.

Kylie was the first little person up. Surprise, surprise. She is actually the one who has been looking forward to going back to school the most. Like me, Kylie likes routine and keeping busy. She snuck downstairs so she wouldn't wake up her sisters and sat with me while I got ready. She got dressed and did her own hair. She doesn't really like me to do her hair anymore. If I absolutely insist, she'll let me, but I let her have her way today. She proudly laced up her brand new tennis shoes which have been sitting on the top shelf of my closet for over a month. I would not allow anyone to wear any "school clothes/shoes" until school started. Kylie's old tennis shoes literally were falling apart and she happily tossed them into the garbage can last night right before bed. I hate even sounding so cheesy but I really cannot believe that I have a third grader. She is growing up so fast. Here she is with her new third grade teacher.

Kasey, on the other hand, wasn't as excited for school as Kylie. Kylie has been giving Kasey the "first grade is so much harder than kindergarten" speech for the last couple of weeks. Kasey has been slightly nervous that she won't be smart enough for first grade but excited to get back into seeing her friends and all of the fun activities that go along with school. I assured Kasey that she is plenty smart for the first grade and that she would do just fine. She too was very excited to wear her new shoes. She has the greatest teacher in the world this year who happens to share her name and I know she will love him.

I didn't get to spend a ton of time with the girls after they got home from school today because I had to go to my class. I did get to see them get off the school bus and chat with them for about a half hour and they both had great days. They both have friends that they enjoy in their classes and seem to be happy with their teachers. I am SO happy to have them back in school but somewhat overwhelmed with the change in activity level that happens in the next couple of weeks. Wednesday night church starts tomorrow and I am the craft teacher in Kelly's room this year. Kelly starts preschool next week Tues, Weds, Thurs and she starts gymnastics on Monday. Kylie starts art class again on Saturdays. I have my communications class on Tuesday nights. Girl scouts will start for the big girls in a couple of weeks. Did I mention, our main floor bathroom is being demolished tomorrow morning at 8am. I know everything will work out fine and believe me, I seem to do better under pressure but it does seem like a mountain of activity before me. Good thing it's all about the climb.

Jonathan and the girls before leaving for school.

Best friends

It is nearly impossible to get a picture of all four kids looking at me and smiling at the same time. This is the best of about twenty. Kelly and Harry were both so good this morning while we got the girls all dropped off in their classrooms. I was so thankful that I didn't have to fight with those two and that the day could be about Kylie and Kasey.

When did these children grow up like this? When I see them altogether and then one in 1st grade and one in 3rd, it's hard to believe. Looks like they had a great first day - Hope class is going well for you too - Who has 4 kids and goes to college herself? Unbelievable but good for you. P.S. I love Senor Casey too!

I wish I could have been there for their first day of school. It brought tears to my eyes to see them as they are growing up so fast. Love the pic also.

Kylie is looking more and more like your mom, so sweet, and not cheese at all, I can't believe you have a 3rd grader. The girls look super cute on the first day. New bathroom, that sounds like fun. We finally got our's completed 1 month later, worth the wait, but man what a mess. Good Luck. Is that a new deck I see, or maybe just new to me, looks nice from what I can see. Sounds like a busy schedule ahead, we'll have to try and connect soon.

Nina, yeah we had a deck built on what used to be our old patio area. It worked out good. I am patiently waiting for photos of your new house!! Post some soon. Yeah, we have to connect someday soon here.
