With Kelly being sick yesterday, it is easy to get that "couped up" feeling being stuck inside all day. Because she has been doing a little bit better today, we decided to go for a long walk around our neighborhood. Kelly and Kasey bundled up and we headed out. No stroller required as Kelly is insistent on walking everywhere we go. She is not interested in sitting in a stroller one bit. She toddled around following her big sister down the sidewalks. She watched with big eyes when Kasey would veer off the path to climb on top a snowbank. She kept repeating the word "puppy" even though we never did see one.
Kasey had an adventuresome walk as well. She enjoyed picking up snow chunks and throwing them onto the sidewalk. She climbed on top of many big snowbanks and then slid down them. I believe her favorite was skidding along the ice on the sidewalks. As much as she enjoyed doing her own thing, she also wanted to hold hands for the majority of our walk. I love this as Kylie and Kelly are not real interested in hand holding for the time being. Kasey is my little lover girl, always wanting to be close to Jonathan or I.
It was nice to get a breath of fresh air. The temperatures outside today would lead a person to believe that spring was on it's way. I know better having lived here my whole life. We still have plenty of winter ahead of us.
After about five blocks of walking all by herself, little Miss Independent stopped, turned around and put her hands up to me so that I would pick her up. We were almost home so I had no problem carrying Kelly home. It is nice to know that she is not too grown up yet. She still needs her mom, even if it is only after she is too tired to walk by herself anymore.
