Mongee and Grandpa's Cabin

I guess I'm a "guest" blogger as Carrie asked me (her mom) to do a little blogging and post some pictures of our weekend at the lake with Kasey and Kylie. In her previous blog, she talked about how the girls had planned for weeks all the things we would do and I can tell you that we crossed EVERY one of them off our list. Needless to say, Grandpa and I were pooped when we got back home but thrilled to have had this very special time with two very special little girls.

We didn't get there until late the first night and you can see by this pic that Grandpa and Kasey were tired - I think we all went to bed around 11 p.m. The girls and I put on our "chef" hats the next morning and made a batch of monkey bread which the girls loved and were very proud of (cinnamon rolls).

Grandpa taught us about making fires (not kids but Grandpa's) and we watched a Disney movie while all cuddled up on the bed. Kasey and Grandpa went ice fishing while Kylie and Mongee stayed behind and made Valentine houses. Kasey got to see the fish on Joe's underwater camera and caught two Northerns all by herself. How exciting! Grandpa took the girls to the Mule Lake store and each of them came back with a special treat which is always fun. We played several games of "Deal or No Deal" with Kasey and Grandpa as the banker and host while Joe and Kylie were the contestants. It was alot of fun and the girls got an especially big kick out of saying "Grandpa, Deal or No Deal".

We had a "talent show" where all of us had to perform one of our talents and they ranged from puppet shows to hula hooping, strength lifting and just general all around good fun. We roasted marshmallows in the fire box and had s'mores and hot chocolate before we took our showers Saturday night. After we showered, we played "Bingo Extravaganza" which consists of Mongee being the bingo caller and everyone else playing bingo hoping to win one of the secret grab bags full of treasures. As always, the girls won first and are always excited to yell "Bingo".

Sunday morning we had a big breakfast and then Grandpa and the girls went snowmobiling and ice fishing with Joe. It was cold but fun! After a couple of hours outside, they were ready for some good old grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup to warm them up - Kylie didn't catch any fish this time but had fun seeing them on the underwater camera. After all this fun, we had to pack up and return home. Within 30 minutes of leaving the cabin in mid afternoon, both girls AND Grandpa were sound asleep in the car - They pretty much all slept for close to two hours so the trip home was quiet - That's always a good indicator tho that everyone had a grand time - We're anxious to do it again!
