popsicles and warm baths

Kelly woke up crying last night right around 11pm. That is really unlike her as normally, once she is out for the night, you don't hear from her again. I went in to check on her. I could smell it before I saw it. Throw up. I turned on the light and sure enough, it was everywhere. I woke up Jonathan so he could wash her up in the tub while I cleaned up her crib and floor...thank goodness for hardwood floors. He got her all nice and clean, new jammies, new blankie...good to go. I got her crib cleaned up, floor swiffered and sprayed Lysol to take the smell away. She was as good as new.

I put her back in her crib and went to start the dirty sheets in the laundry. By the time I was back upstairs again, she was crying again. I went in and checked on her and sure enough, we repeated the entire process (bath and all) once more. Once she was cleaned up, Jonathan and I lay with her for a bit in our bed and she seemed to feel better. She was saying "ni-ni" which means she wants to go to bed so, I put her back in her fresh crib.

A half an hour later, I repeated the same thing. She had thrown up again...this time not nearly as bad. It wasn't all over her which always helps in the clean up process. I put her back to bed hoping this would be the last time I would see her as I was out of clean crib sheets.

She did end up sleeping through the night but woke up VERY hungry and thirsty. I gave her a piece of cut up apple (her favorite) and a sippy cup of juice. I'll spare you the details but let just say, that didn't sit well with her either. After getting her all cleaned up, we brought the girls to school. Once Kelly and I got home, I put her right in a warm bath and fed her an orange popsicle. She is all warm and cozy now and the popsicle seems to be sitting well with her.

I am off to wash crib sheets and baby blankies.

Oh, how I remember those days - some things you forget over the years but not one like this. Poor little girl and I hope you and Jonathan get alittle bit more sleep tonight. That's a tough night!

Glad to see she's feeling better already. One thing I learned (the hard way) was to put towels over the sheets so I only had to replace towels and not the entire bedding.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that nobody else gets that nasty little bug.
